Kosciusko County has been awarded $13,516 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
Representatives from Kosciusko County serve on the local FEMA board to determine how the funds are to be awarded to interested agencies that provide qualifying services under the guidelines. Program expenditures are limited to food, meals, shelter, rent/mortgage and utility assistance.
Grants awarded are as followed: The Salvation Army will receive $9,996 to be used for rent/mortgage assistance; the Beaman Home will receive $3,000 to assist with supplies/food costs associated with the shelter; and Washington Township Food Pantry will receive $500 to be used for food assistance costs. The balance of $20 will be used for postage to submit required documentation to the National FEMA office.
