Federal and local officials teamed up for a drug sting Thursday that led to the arrest of a Warsaw man.
Luiz Benitez, 31, of 9441 W. CR 250S, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Thursday around 7:07 p.m., charged with felony dealing methamphetamine.
Benitez was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn, Warsaw, after he allegedly sold half a pound of methamphetamine to an undercover federal agent. The methapmhetamine reportedly was worth $11,500.
Federal Drug Enforcement Agency officials from the Fort Wayne district contacted the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force with infomation regarding a large meth purchase that was planned in Warsaw Thursday, and drug task force officers and officers from the Warsaw Poilce Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department assisted the special agents during the arrest.
Benitez currently is being held without bond in the Kosciusko County Jail on local charges, but federal charges probably will be filed.
The investigation of Benitez and other drug actvity is still under investigation, and more arrests are likely.
Luiz is currently being held with no bond on local D.T.F. charges, but federal charges are likely. Officer's stated that there investigation is still ongoing with the likelihood of additional arrest.
