Fate Unknown Of Ind. 13 Expansion

SYRACUSE - Town officials are still waiting to learn the fate of Ind. 13 expansion plans.

The project, which could expand the highway through town to three or five lanes, was placed in limbo a few months ago after the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber raised concerns and the Indiana Department of Transportation decided to reasses traffic count figures, said town manager Matt Vigneault.

The town is prepared to begin final design plans if the state provides the go-ahead.

A concrete timetable had not yet been set for the project, which has been in the planning stages for several years.

Vigneault said the town has been waiting for several weeks to learn of the project's fate from the state.

Town council met in a brief meeting Tuesday, but did not discuss the issue, Vigneault said.
