Fatal Milford Fire Attributed to Electrical Malfunction

Kosciusko County Fire Investigation Team and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office have determined the cause of the fatal fire at Medina’s Body Shop in Milford was accidental.
The fire at 310 N. Higbee St., Milford, broke out around 7:15 a.m. Thursday. According to a press release from the fire investigation team, the fire originated in the ceiling of a work bay and spread throughout the structure. Evidence found at the scene indicates an electrical malfunction in the wiring supplying power to a ceiling light.
The fire killed two individuals, one who has been positively identified as Analu Nunez, Milford. Nunez was found on the second floor of the structure and it was determined she died of smoke inhalation.
The male victim, found on the first floor of the structure, is presumed to be Jose Medina, also of Milford. It was determined he also died of smoke inhalation.
The property was deemed a total loss.
