A car-semi tractor-trailer collision Monday left a Silver Lake man dead and put a North Manchester man in the hospital.
Randal E. Martin, 43, of South CR 100W, Silver Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene of the noon-time accident, and Kenneth Dickey, 81, North Manchester, is listed in serious condition at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, today.
The crash occurred at the intesection of U.S. 30 and Center Street, Warsaw, when an eastbound car driven by Dickey reportedly disregarded a traffic signal and turned left on a red light.
According to police witness' reports, Dickey's car turned left in front of the westbound semi and never appeared to slow or attempt to stop.
The semi tractor-trailer's driver was Luther Collins Reed, 63, of Porter, Texas.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in this accident.
Traffic in U.S. 30's westbound lane was closed for approximately an hour after the accident.
