Fast Food Tax

Editor, Times-Union:

I watched with interest the continual unfolding of the soap opera "Life With Mitch."

Politicians always spend more than they take in because government is another word for waste and corruption. This time it was "Get Those Smokers." It's for their own good you know! Another source of funds to squander. The statistics on smoker deaths are publicized boldly but not obesity.

Isn't it time that if politicians want more money to squander they might think of taxing fast food and soft drinks out of existence before the whole state sinks beneath its added weight? Also, how about taxing fast food corporations for highway cleanup? Yuk!

Lose 10 pounds? Hey, Mitch, have you been to a shopping center lately and looked around?

Also, I see the representatives turned down the useless and expensive hate crimes legislation. I don't know about you, but I never saw a love crime. If it's a crime, it's a crime. The results of most hate crime laws has been to punish white working men, while haters of another race are rarely charged at all.

Example: If you physically attack a Mestizo illegal alien that has just crashed his new SUV into your living room and you happen not to say "excuse me, sir," now that's a hate crime, plus being a federal crime. But if an illegal alien attacks you, it's only simple assault or battery. But, of course, that's just a "love crime."
