Partygoers who drink too much on New Year's Eve will have a safe way to get home, thanks to Warsaw's Fast Cabs Taxi Company.
For the sixth year, Fast Cabs will offer free rides throughout Kosciusko County Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., said Dave Cesaretti, the company's owner.
He said the drivers will be out "in full force" on New Year's Eve, and the normal pickup time will be approximately 15 minutes.
The company is accepting reservations if someone knows they are going to a specific party, Cesaretti said, but reservations are not required.
The free ride program, which Cesaretti named the "Save-A-Ride Program" when it first began, has about a 10 percent increase in ridership every year, he said.
"The word gets out, and people realize that drinking and driving is not good," he said.
Previously limited to free rides in the Warsaw area, and charging for rides elsewhere in the county, Cesaretti said this year a sponsorship from Nelson Beverage allows the company to offer free rides throughout the county.
Other sponsors that make this program possible are American Legion, Eagles Lodge, Eby's Truck Center, Holiday Bowl, Kosciusko Community Hospital, Lewis Oil, Liquid Assets, MedPark Center, Moose Lodge, Papa John's Pizza, Pizza King, Rex's Rendezvous, Service Liquor, Schraders Auto Parts, Time Out Inn and the VFW.
