New Year's Eve is one of the biggest drinking days of the year, and a local taxi company is again offering free rides to assure people get home safely.
Fast Cab, Warsaw, will offer free taxi services within Warsaw and Winona Lake from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday.
"Every year my hope is that more people take advantage of the free rides to make sure they get home safely," said David Cesaretti, Fast Cab owner.
Cesaretti said the business has offered free cab rides for New Year's Eve for 20 years.
It has increased its cab fleet for this year's holiday, and will pick up cab riders at their home and take them to local bars and back home for free.
Cesaretti said the free rides would not be possible without 12 local sponsors who provided monetary donations toward the rides.
Sponsors include Five Star Distributors, Rex's Rendezvous, Bogey's Steak House, Nelson Beverage, Hampton Inn, Bennigan's, Liquid Assets, Service Liquors, Warsaw Bowl, American Legion, Time Out Inn and Susie's Sandbar.
Cesaretti said Fast Cab already has received reservations for cab rides for this year's New Year's Eve.
He said a new service the business is offering this year is a service where Fast Cab will pick up a vehicle from a bar and drive it home for a fee.
People who need rides can call Fast Cab at 574-269-2222.
