Twenty years ago Dave Cesaretti had an idea on how to save a life on New Year’s Eve. Cesaretti, owner of Fast Cab Inc., wanted to do something special for those who wanted to enjoy the fetivities of New Year’s Eve. He came up with the idea to offer free rides to people frequenting bars. Twenty years later, Cesaretti is still offering free cab rides to and from bars on New Year’s Eve. “It just seemed like the right thing to do,” said Cesaretti. “I call it the save-a-life-program. I think I am saving a life if I get them to ride to and from the bars.” This year, Cesaretti is offering free rides to and from different Warsaw locations from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. including: The Downtown, Warsaw Bowl, Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, American Legion Post 49, Service Liquor Lake Street and U.S. 30E, Elks Lodge 802, Noa Noa, Susie’s Sandbar, Timeout Inn. In addition to those establishments, there are three other businesses sponsoring this year’s event: Nelson’s Beverage, Five Star Distributing and Clevenger Insurance. “I really just want to take time and acknowledge Nelson’s Beverage and Five Star Distributing for helping to make this possible,” said Cesaretti. “They are willing to help and I appreciate it.” On one of the busiest nights of the year, Cesaretti will have a fleet of cabs to service the crowds. In addition to the cabs, he will have a party bus available for reservation. For reservations on New Year’s Eve, call Fast Cabs Inc. at 574-269-2222.
