Editor, Times-Union: These thoughts are after reading the “Farmer’s Exchange,” written by Larry Deboer, professor of agriculture of Purdue University. For the second year in a row, the Indiana General Assembly made major changes to the farmland assessment formula. This time it probably will deliver actual property tax cuts for farmland owners – and tax increases for everybody else. Why didn’t my representative tell me SB 308 will give property tax relief for farmers? I wonder how much my property tax will go up even with a cap. Paul Fribley Warsaw
