Farming: Part 4

Editor, Times-Union:
Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. In the future, we may actually do something about the weather by changing it. Weather control should help farmers, if done right.
For years I have talked about destroying tornadoes and preventing hurricanes. Despite what people at NOAA believe that only a nuclear bomb can destroy each, I believe devices I call bees and wasps might destroy tornadoes. Bees would use either heating coils or plasma beams to boil clouds away and wasps would freeze clouds into ice. A swarm of upward to 100 bees the  size of Predator drones would fly into a tornado cloud before a tornado forms. Plasma beams could be over 5,000 degrees. As long as most survive the rough conditions, in the cloud, a cloud of steam would form and disappear. Remaining bees would fly to other tornado clouds to destroy them. Lives and property would be spared. Swarms of wasps would chill tornado clouds into rain and ice.
To prevent hurricanes, pumper vessels the size of oil tankers would be sent to where tropical storms are forming that could become hurricanes. Twenty to 30 pumpers in a fleet would draw up ocean water, chill it to maybe 35 degrees, and pump it out to shut down the heat engine that energizes hurricanes. Since hurricanes take so long to form and pumpers would pump out cubic miles of chilled water, tropical storms would remain storms or disappear altogether.
At harvest time, bees could vaporize rain clouds. If rain is needed, if there are clouds, wasps could condense them into rain clouds. To fight forest fires out west, bees would dive into the ocean to produce steam to form clouds and wasps would make them rain clouds to douse the flames. Bees could prevent blizzards by vaporizing clouds while wasps could condense clouds and dump snow on ski resorts.
Farmers would appreciate weather manipulation. But weather conditions would move to other areas with unknown consequences. Farmers could use condensers to draw water out of the air to provide water for crops and livestock. Bees and heat field generators could warm the air above groves during the winter in Florida and California to prevent the loss of fruits and nuts.
Weather manipulation would be costly and many people would still complain about the weather. But if lives and property can be saved and the money saved eventually exceeds the costs, bees, wasps and pumpers would be great ways to control the weather. But since the sun controls the world climate, manipulating it would further control the weather.
But the equipment needed would bankrupt the world’s economy and may prove to be useless if the sun can’t be controlled. Every time we think we have God-like powers, God likes to put us in our place and show us how weak and foolish we are. I just hope bees, wasps and pumpers work and aren’t a defiance of God.
