ETNA GREEN - A farm accident has claimed the life of a 13-year-old Etna Green boy.
Wyman Miller, 13, of 8409 W. CR 750N, Etna Green, was pronounced dead by Kosciusko County Deputy Coroner Michael Wilson at Kosciusko Community Hospital around 8:15 a.m. Saturday.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Miller was found unresponsive near a tree in a wooded area on the family farm around 6:35 a.m. Saturday.
When officers and rescue workers arrived, they immediately transported Miller to KCH, where he was pronounced dead from blunt force trauma.
The boy's father, Lloyd Miller, told police that they had been doing chores and Wyman had gone to get 14 of the family horses to the barn to be fed.
The boy had brought four horses to the barn and went back to the woods to get more but did not return. When Wyman did not return, his brother went to look for him and found him, injured, near a tree. While emergency crews were contacted, the boy's sister started administering CPR.
Officers investigating the incident believe Wyman was either hit by a horse or pinned to a tree by one of the family's Belgian draft horses, which are very large.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police and Multi-Township EMS.
Wyman's obituary appears on page 3A of today's edition.
