SYRACUSE – The second annual “Fallen Rider Memorial Ride” will be held at noon Saturday at Wawasee High School, 1 Warrior Way, Syracuse.
Registration opens at 10 a.m. The cost is $25 for an individual or $30 for a couple, with proceeds going to several local high school drivers’ education programs at Wawasee, Whitko, Northridge, Goshen and Fairfield high schools. Last year the ride raised more than $5,000.
There also will be a petition to place motorcycle awareness signs throughout the state. The petition already has several thousand signatures on it and will be sent to Vice President Mike Pence and another copy presented to lawmakers at the state capital.
The ride, led by National Guard Hummers, is in memory of Eric “Doc” Mounsey, who was killed by a distracted driver. The 80-mile ride will promote safety in remembrance of fallen riders everywhere.
Following the ride there will be live music, food and drinks at American Legion Post 253, 756 S. Main St., North Webster. Donated items will be raffled at the ride and at the Legion.
