Fake $100 Bills Passed In Kosciusko CountyA Columbia City man was arrested Sunday after using fake $100 bills twice in May at a Kosciusko County gas station.

Trentin Dean Garwood, 26, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:34 p.m. Sunday for counterfeiting. His preliminary bond was set at $5,750.

Court documents filed June 14 list the charges against Garwood as two counts of counterfeiting, level 6 felonies; and two counts of theft, Class A misdemeanors.

On May 29, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy spoke with an employee of a gas station in Kosciusko County. She said that on two separate occasions – May 24 and May 28 – Garwood used a fake $100 bill to purchase small merchandise and received money in change.

Reviewing the surveillance video, a deputy identified the person in the video using the fake $100 bills as Garwood.

On June 14, a warrant for Garwood’s arrest was issued.
