Editor, Times-Union: “Sally” (not her real name) has never considered public speaking among her gifts/talents. So it was sort of a surprise that she recently felt that it was time to stand up before a church group and witness to the reality of a personal and developing Christian faith.
Then came two opportunities to forget her timidity and speak and sing. The positive response at both places surprised her. After the second one she received a letter that revealed something that may surprise many of you: There’s a multitude of discouraged people out there in desperate need – a lift that can come by some word or act of love from you. Here’s one letter:
Dear Sally, Bless you for sharing your from the heart testimony. To us who heard it, it brought a loving God moment. I clung to each word, not wanting to miss one syllable of what I recognized as God-inspired.
As you finished, I let my mind wander to where it wanted to go, wishing someone had shared this message with my mom.
She was a Christian in her younger years, not sure what her precious life faced. However, when she was almost 34, her heart was broken yet again. I think she felt there was no hope. When I was almost 12, she took her own life. She had no clue that some of her survivors would die with her, and that all would feel a void more and more. (Ever know of one family that lost seven by suicide?)
So please, Sally, keep sharing your testimony and song wherever God leads you to do it. He uses us to plant seeds He can use for His glory.
