Fair Parade Set July 20

Posted

"What makes our parade unique is it's the only one I know where you pass through two review stands, manned by local broadcast media," said Frank Rhoades, the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair parade committee chairman.

This year's event is July 20 beginning at 4 p.m. The theme is "A Tribute To Our Youth."

The stands are in front of the Winona Lake Post Office and before the grandstands at the fairgrounds.

"Since we start in Winona Lake," Rhoades said, "the parade can be viewed from a car, chair or boat."

There were about 120 units last year.

Entry deadline is July 15 and entry forms are available on the Internet at kcfair.kconline.com

The route begins in the Rodeheaver Auditorium parking lot area.

Parade check-in and lineup starts at 3 p.m. south of the Rodeheaver Auditorium and proceeds down Park Avenue to Winona Avenue and then to Smith Street and the fairgrounds.

Entries will be judged at 3:30 p.m. and awards will be presented as units pass through the grandstands.

Categories are 4-H, antique vehicle, float, equestrian, commercial, best of theme, club and walking unit.

All entries need a written statement of up to 50 words describing the unit.

Entries may be dropped off at the fair office, faxed to 269-9691 or mailed to: Parade Registration, P.O Box 1093, Warsaw, IN 46580.

For more information, call the office, 269-1823, or Rhoades, 594-2685.
