F. Dean Decker, 87, died at 5:50 p.m. June 25, 2012, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Warsaw, to Fred and Lorena Correll Decker. On Aug. 17, 1946, in Warsaw, he married Martha Baumgartner, who survives in Warsaw.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was a lifetime farmer. He served in the U.S. Army, entering Aug. 12, 1944, served during World War II, and was honorably discharged June 29, 1946. A 1943 graduate of Mentone High School, he was a member of American Legion Post 49, an avid reader, loved target shooting, removed nuisance animals, loved big band music, enjoyed gin rummy and euchre, farmer who loved the earth and enjoyed watching his crops grow and produce. He loved and was proud of his family and was very protective of his girls.
Also surviving are five daughters: Judy K. Coplen, Fort Wayne; Barbara (and spouse Bruce) Smith, Leo; Cathy (and spouse Paul) Northcutt, Warsaw; Deanna (and spouse Jim) Swain, Cromwell; Linda (and spouse Craig) Doran, Burket; four grandchildren: Zachary (and spouse Melissa) Smith, Amanda Smith, Brittany Northcutt, Ashley Owens; and two great-grandchildren, Kerrick and Korra. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Nelson and Dortha Tucker, and a brother, Dale Decker.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Mike Beezley, Clunette United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126. Burial will be in Harrison Center, Etna Green
