Editor, Times-Union: Extreme right-wing agendas have no place in Democracy nor free institutions. The same shall be said to you few on the extreme left-wing paradigm. How great men and women so selfishly sacrifice their lives so a few of you can display such feeble-minded ideology is nothing short of tyranny. Even more troubling is that we have allowed derelict leadership who feel so intimidated and insecure in their personal faith they see fit to push their brokenness on the rest of society. Or is it to mend yourselves to be comforted in your sin and make up for self-worth? May I ask how pathetic one can be to accept the LGBT community who fight radical Islam providing a blanket of freedom and safety to your families and churches yet you disgrace the name of warrior Christ because of your troubled “conscience”? You have much deeper issues you must settle before any more abuse and bullying of our government. Whether it is a need for SB 100 or RFRA the fact is we are obligated to alter and reform our government. However, if that entails doing so as a society of unjust, feeble-minded people who demand our needs be meet based on feelings or what we individually or collectively believe to be superior to others life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; we do not have that right. Our forefathers and the word(s) of our Creator's make this very clear. Which brings all too fitting the words of true Republican President, Mr. Theodore Roosevelt. “What is true patriotism and reform is true also of Americanism. There are plenty of scoundrels always ready to try to belittle reform movements or to bolster up existing iniquities in the name of Americanism, but this does not alter the fact that the man who can do most in this country is and must be the man whose Americanism is most sincere and intense. Outrageous though it is to use a noble idea as the cloak for evil, it is still worse to assail the noble idea itself because it can thus be used. The men who do iniquity in the name of patriotism, of reform, of Americanism, are merely one small division of the class that has always existed and will always exist, – the class of hypocrites and demagogues, the class that is always prompt to steal the watchwords of righteousness and use them in interest of evil-doing.” The most critical action the President goes on to say, “we must soberly set to work to find out all we can about the existence and extent of every evil, must acknowledge it to be such, and must then attack it with unyielding resolution.” These people on the extremes of the spectrum are cowards and at all cost for democracy and free institutions should be stood up to. And how they cloak themselves in the name of Christ, the church and their inept concept of the constitution shouldn’t change our resolve. Semper Fi, Mike Stinfer Warsaw, via email
