Exhibit Giving A Kid's View of Gulf Oil Spill At Warsaw Library

Posted
A series of reproductions by Hoosier author and illustrator Lynn Rowe Reed is currently on exhibit at the Warsaw Community Public Library.
The display is titled “Giving Kid’s A View of the Gulf Oil Spill.”
An artist for the past 20 years, her art has been featured in numerous venues including The Wall Street Journal. The reproductions are taken from her book, “Roscoe and the Pelican Rescue”, the fictional tale of a boy looking forward to a summer vacation at his cousin’s Louisiana home, only to discover that the recent Gulf Oil spill disaster has reached Louisiana beaches.
The vacationing family rallies to help clean up the beach and care for affected local animals.
With her quirky, contemporary technique, Reed appeals to readers of all ages. Her whimsical style is a fascinating contrast to the heavy subject matter of the 2010 catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, allowing viewers to see this disaster in a way they perhaps haven’t before.
The exhibition is part of a series of educational tools used by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art’s Extension and Outreach Program whose goal is to use visual arts to connect people to history, culture, and each other.
