NORTH WEBSTER - North Webster Community Public Library has been busy since the inception of the new program Evergreen Indiana.Patrons are taking advantage of the new item limit. A total of 10 DVDs and 10 VHS tapes can be checked out at a time, and patrons are enjoying this feature.
Because the new program allows the library to use other libraries in the system, many more items are available to patrons.
If you live in the township and do not have a library card, stop in soon and apply for one. If you haven't applied for a new card or picked up your new card, do so any time. A new card is necessary to access your account online.
So many programs are offered free of charge at the library. A free class was just completed titled English Sign Language. It was attended by about 10 people. All library programs are open to anyone.
The beginners genealogy class, which includes a look at the Family Tree Maker program, is in full swing.
The Local History and Genealogy Center is in the midst of planning the next Cemetery Walk, which will take place in September. These walks take place in the North Webster Cemetery on Ind. 13 in downtown North Webster. Once again, anyone may attend.
An essay contest will begin March 3 for nominations and will run through the end of March. To nominate a person buried in the cemetery, one must submit a short writing telling why this person should be honored. One need not be a relative of the person, but should have sufficient information for the nomination. Writers may nominate more than one person if desired, but a separate writing should be submitted for each person.
Winners will be selected at the end of March and will be listed on the Web site. Submit essays to Beth in the LH&GC. If you need more details, stop in the library any time.
Stop in and pick up a copy of the "Lily Pad Press" for more information concerning future programs and events. The library has programs for children, teens and adults.
