MENTONE - Everett G. Young, 79, died peacefully at 2:45 p.m. Dec. 10, 2007, in his residence. He can now be with his beloved wife Betty, who died Aug. 9, 2003.
He was born May 8, 1928, in Mentone, to Gordon and Edith Vandermark Young. On Nov. 29, 1948, in Atwood, he married Betty J. Kindig.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, he retired from Bendix Corp. in 1983 after 32 years of service. He was a longtime member of Moose Lodge, Warsaw, and Eagles Lodge, Syracuse, and was an inductee in the Warsaw Bowling Hall of Fame. He spent many years bowling in both local leagues and Moose Travel Leagues and participated in many ABC bowling tournaments all over the country.
Surviving are two daughters, Diann (and spouse Robert) Huffman and Sandra (and spouse Roy) Wentz, both of Warsaw; a son, Dennis (and spouse Tracy) Young, Warsaw; eight grandchildren: Scott, Alan, Andrew and Nicholas Young, all of Warsaw; Lisa Shaw; Florence, Ky.; Angela Scherschel, Fort Wayne; Bryan Wentz, Noblesville; and Brandon Wentz, Athens, Ga.; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mary Pike, Rochester; Margaret Yeater, Michigan; and Opal Epler and Francis Ervin, both of Warsaw; and a brother, Charles (and spouse Dorothy) Young, Elkhart. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with the Rev. Steve Austin officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Center Cemetery, Etna Green.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
