A tropical “Evening Under the Stars” at Spikes Beach Grill Saturday will benefit Cure JM Foundation, B. Bailey R. Moore Foundation and the KC Riley Kids Fund. The family event will feature special guest Don Middlebrook and The Pearl Divers. While all the corporate tables are sold, single seats are available at $25, which includes picnic buffet. These will be under the tent on the volleyball courts. VIP seating is available on the upper deck. Contact Kristine McDevitt Alderfer or Randy Jones for information. Doors open at 5 p.m., with buffet at 6 p.m. There will be a presentation at 6:30 p.m. and the band starts at 7 p.m. “We never expect terrible things to happen to us,” Alderfer said. “We never expect to be those people who have a sick child or who need emergency hospital care. We never want to think about losing a child. When those things happen to you, the support of your community is key to helping you get through the days. This Evening Under the Stars event supports three charities who help people right in this community. Having been helped by our neighbors and friends in Kosciusko county, I can tell you that we are so blessed to live in such a caring and kind place.” The KC Riley Kids Fund helps families in this county with their travel expenses for trips to Riley Hospital for Children. The Bailey Moore Foundation helps students further their education through scholarships, and the Cure JM Foundation is raising funds to research a cure for the incurable, orphan disease Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Alderfer said. “These three charities have provided support to local families and will continue to do so in the future. This event raises money for all three charities jointly,” she said. “It’ll be a fun and laid-back evening, with lots of music and wonderful food. We hope that people will come out, in support and in community, and help raise funds for those who need it.” Spikes is at 310 Eastlake Drive, Warsaw.
