BOURBON – Evelyn “Thelma” M. Scott, 93, Warsaw, and lifelong resident of the Marshall and Kosciusko Counties area, passed away at 7:55 a.m. March 29, 2014, at her residence. She was born May 29, 1920, in Silver Lake, to William and Goldie Brooks Brown. On June 12, 1953, she married Joseph W. Scott, who died Jan. 11, 2000. She attended Atwood High School. She and her husband were both faithful members of the United Pentecostal Church of Bourbon. She was a homemaker creating the best possible environment for her family. She worked in her early years as a nurse’s aide at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth, and at Murphy Hospital as a dietary aide. She will always be remembered for her love of her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and reading anything she could, including her Bible. She also loved music, both gospel and country. Surviving are her two daughters, Marilyn (and spouse Fred) Powell, Milford, and Marvene Scott, Warsaw; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marvin Scott, who died in November 2012; her sister, Mary Jane Freeman; and four brothers, Bernard, Donald, Paul and Charles Brown. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with Pastors Mark Cottrill and Matt Cottrill of the United Pentecostal Church officiating.
