AKRON - Evelyn Frances Meredith, 102, of 424 Upper Lakeshore Drive, LaPorte, and formerly of Akron, died at 2:27 a.m. Feb. 20, 2011, in LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Feb. 13, 1909, Lemont, Ill., to Henry and Flora Crisler Blesch. On Aug. 13, 1931, in Mentone, she married Roy E. Meredith, who died May 18, 1996.
She was a school teacher, teaching at Franklin School in Kosciusko County for three years and also did home bound and substitute teaching in the Akron School System. She was a member of Akron United Methodist Church, the Akron Women's Club and the Amicus Club. She was a 1927 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and received her associate's degree from Manchester College in 1930.
Surviving are a daughter, Marcia (and spouse Leigh) Morris, La Porte; a son, John (and spouse Molly) Meredith, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren: Meredith Morris, La Porte; Merrianne (and spouse Mark) Robins, Fort Wayne; Mark (and spouse Megan) Meredith, Zionsville; and Curtis (and spouse Christine) Morris, Indianapolis; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Blesch, and a brother, Ralph Blesch.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, with the Rev. Harold L. Leininger officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
