Evelia LaraEvelia Lara, of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, at the age of 40.

She was born on May 26, 1982, in the state of Guerrero, Mexico, to Socorro Brito. She was married on Feb. 22, 2001, to Cesar Lara Montes, who survives.

She moved to the area with her family and has lived in Kosciusko County for the past 27 years. Most recently, she had been working at Brake Rotors Inc. in Warsaw and she was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Warsaw. More than anything, Evelia loved being a mom and spending time with her children. She was a familiar face working at her family’s restaurant, Mi Lindo Acapulco in Warsaw. She was a great cook, loved making desserts and experimenting with foods … and inviting her family to eat what she made. Evelia loved to make people laugh, even though she had a hard life at times, she never let it get her down. She will forever be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother and was a great sister.

She leaves behind her husband, Cesar Lara Montes, Warsaw; and her five children: Cesar Lara-Acosta, Areli Lara-Acosta, Alexis Lara-Acosta, Axel Lara-Acosta, and Jesús Lara-Acosta. Also surviving are her mother, Socorro Brito, Pierceton; brother, Marino Acosta, Warsaw; two sisters, Maria Rosa Acosta, Ligonier; Elvira Acosta, Warsaw; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Georgina Acosta-Brito, on Aug. 1, 2008; and her brother, Marcos Mendoza, on March 5, 2019.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27 and 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.

Evelia’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian burial at noon on Wednesday, March 1 and celebrated by Father Constantino Rocha at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 225 Gilliam Drive, Warsaw. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Memorial donations may be given to go towards a trust for her children, checks may be made out to Cesar Lara and mailed to 4330 N. Old St. Rd. 15, lot 42, Warsaw, IN 46582.
