Evangeline 'Evie' Kirkdorfer

SYRACUSE – Evangeline “Evie” Kirkdorfer, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Sept. 27, 2011, in her residence.

She was born April 18, 1922, in Wisconsin. On Dec. 31, 1944, in Goshen, she married Hubert Kirkdorfer Jr., who died in 1997.

Along with her husband, she co-owned and operated the South Side Soda Shop, Goshen, for more than 30 years. She was very active in the Syracuse Community Center. She belonged to the Ladies Red Hat Society. She was an avid tennis player and bowler into her 80s. She enjoyed attending the Sunday boat-in  services at the Oakwood Center and had also attended St. Andrews United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Jerry (and spouse Debra) Kirkdorfer, Syracuse; a daughter, Susie (and spouse Jeff) Myers, Angola; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Eastlund Funeral Home, 7458 E. CR 1000N, Syracuse. Burial will be in Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
