AKRON - Eva P. Hartman, 94, of Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, and formerly of Akron, died at 6 p.m. March 23, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Burket, to Charley and Mercy Flenar Tucker. On Oct. 19, 1935, in Scottsburg, she married Henry N. Hartman, who died July 29, 1989.
She was a building contractor and a 1933 graduate of Burket High School. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 1343, Eagle Lodge 852 and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Rochester. She attended Akron United Methodist Church and served as a Democrat on the Election Board for 62 consecutive years.
Surviving are a daughter, Judy (and spouse Lee) Grigsby, Warsaw; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son John J. Hartman, who died Dec. 2, 2006; four sisters; a brother; and her companion dog, Blackie, who died in July 2008.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Karen Ottjes officiating. Burial will be in Akron Cemetery.
