Eugene A. Oliver, 69, of Warsaw, died at 11 p.m. June 15, 2010, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in San Jose, Calif., to Clarence and Elsie Cunyah Oliver. On Nov. 26, 2005, in St. Joe, Mich., he married Tonya Deerwester, who survives.
Moving to Warsaw in 1963, he worked at Zimmer Inc., retiring in 2006, and also was building commissioner for the cities of Warsaw and Winona Lake for 10 years. He attended Warsaw Community Church. He was a member of the Burket Shooting Club and the National Rifle Association as a certified instructor. He was very devoted to God, church, family and friends. He was very knowledgeable and skilled at his work and was loved very much.
He received an associate's degree in electronic technology from San Jose City College, California, and associate's and master's arts degrees from Grace Theological Seminary.
Also surviving are six children: June George; Lynn (and spouse Daniel) Plett; Jenna (and spouse Chris) Hanna; Dana (and spouse Roman) Ovchinnikov; David (and spouse Melinda) Oliver; and John (and spouse Paige) Oliver; four stepchildren, Denise (and spouse Andrew) Northern, and Phillip, Stephanie and Brandon Deerwester; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marie Lang, California.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Warsaw Community Church, Warsaw, with Pastor James Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
