The Kosciusko County Alcoholic Beverage Commission renewed the Etna Pub's liquor license despite public nuisance and gambling violations.
The ABC heard from two co-owners of the Etna Pub who said they removed gambling machines from the building after a Jan. 23 violation where excise officers found gambling machines on the premises. It was the first violation for the Etna Pub.Board member Kenneth Johnson made the motion to approve a one-year renewal for the Etna Pub as opposed to the standard two-year renewal.
The board also approved the renewal of the Channel Marker's license.
The Channel Marker, Syracuse, was cited Oct. 26 for a violation of an employee permit. When excise officers arrived, an employee had no permit and there were no employee permits on file.
The board continued request to transfer stock of Channel Marker from Ron Johnson to Steve Johnson.
The board did approve a transfer of stock for the Liquor Locker, Syracuse, from Wyland Inc. to Beef's Booze Barn, which also owns a liquor store in Albion. An automatic renewal also was given to the Liquor Locker.
A transfer of ownership for Ruby Tuesday's was continued as there were no representatives from Ruby Tuesday's on hand.
The board also gave automatic renewals to the following business: Owens' Supermarkets, American Legion Post 49, Aldi, all of Warsaw; The Boathouse, Winona Lake; CVS, North Webster, Warsaw and Syracuse; Raccoon Run Golf Course, Warsaw Bowl; Stonehenge Golf Club, all of Warsaw; Viking Liquors, Mentone; Lance's Newmarket, North Webster and Syracuse; Service Liquors, Warsaw. An automatic renewal is given to businesses with no violations, changes or transfers.
Board members present were Elim Smith and Kenneth Johnson while Gordon Vanator was absent. Excise officer April Tackett also was at the meeting. The next ABC meeting is scheduled for Oct. 4 at 1 p.m.
