Etna Green Tornado Siren Repaired

Posted
ETNA GREEN – The Etna Green weather and fire siren is now back in operation.

It was reported Tuesday that the siren was not operable.

According to Etna Green Town Council President Keith Claassen, the siren is fully operable for the upcoming tornado season.

Claassen said the town wanted to give a special thanks to Berry Baker and Andy Cook for their extra effort
After removal of a bird’s nest and dirt and a good cleaning, the siren now works without issue.

The cleaning saved the town an estimated $13,700.

Claassen said that by having an operational warning siren, lives may be saved.

“These two gentleman have served this community many times over many years in much this same way, but have rarely if ever been acknowledged for their service,” said Claassen of Baker and Cook in an e-mail to the Times-Union.
