Etna Green Pedestrian Dies After Hit By VehicleETNA GREEN – A pedestrian was killed Tuesday afternoon in Etna Green.
Carol Hoffer, 84, of Etna Green, died as a result of injuries she suffered after being hit by a vehicle, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Broadway and Walnut streets. Although these are two different street names, it is where Ind. 19 turns, so both roadways are Ind. 19, the release states.
Investigating deputies say Hoffer was walking on Broadway Street when she was hit by a 1999 Ford F150 driven by Larry Smith, 57, of Leesburg. Immediately prior to the collision, Smith turned right (west) onto Broadway from Walnut Street.
Hoffer was taken by the Samaritan Air Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Smith was not injured in the collision, the release states.
The crash remains under investigation by the KCSO Fatal Team.
Along with the KCSO, responding agencies included Bourbon Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Atwood Fire Department, Etna Green Fire Department and First Responders, Lutheran EMS and the Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance.
