Etna Green Man Faces Multiple Charges After Friday Battery IncidentAfter allegedly headbutting a woman and threatening to kill her Friday, an Etna Green man was arrested on battery and intimidation charges.

Matthew Christopher Hoshal, 26, of 222 E. High St., Etna Green, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:14 p.m. Friday for residential entry and battery resulting in bodily injury. His preliminary bond was set at $5,250.

Court documents filed Monday list the charges against him as residential entry, a level 6 felony; intimidation, a level 6 felony; and battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

On Aug. 24, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Det. Josh Spangle responded to a report of residential entry and intimidation at Westhaven Estates.

The victim said she was in the bedroom watching television when Hoshal kicked the door open, causing the wood to splinter. He picked up a broken piece of the wood and pointed it against the victim’s neck, telling her he would kill her, court documents state.

The victim told Hoshal she was going to call police and he took her cell phone. He then headbutted her. She was able to get free and fled the residence. She said Hoshal left the area riding a mo-ped.

Spangle spotted Hoshal riding the mo-ped in the area of Lake Street and Zimmer Road, Warsaw. He conducted a traffic stop on the mo-ped. Hoshal admitted he had been in an argument at Westhaven and kicked the victim’s door in.

Officers at the residence saw a footprint on the door and parts of the door splintered.

The victim had a bruise on her head, causing pain, from where she was headbutted.
