Etna Green's aging water system got a big boost Thursday with the announcement of a $500,000 grant through the state of Indiana.
The Community Focus Fund grant money willl be used to upgrade the town's water system.
The money will be used to replace the town's water lines and hydrants, some of which were installed nearly 70 years ago.
Water pressure and firefighting abilities will improve as a result, according to a town spokesman.
The grant will help finance construction of a new well and well house and repairs to broken fire hydrants.
Etna Green received the maximum amount available through the grant administered by the Indiana Department of Commerce for the federal government.
The grant announcement was made in Indianapolis Thursday.
