ETNA GREEN – Etna Green Town Council will look into fixing a utility pole in the alley behind FastTimes Fabrication Custom Sheet Metal Shop after hearing from the business’s owner, Heath Roberts, about electric issues.
Some of the issues Roberts described was blinking lights inside his business when he uses some of his heavier equipment. He also said the power also spikes between his warehouse and the other building he is using for his business.
He’s running out of power and he wants it to get it looked at. Roberts said if he adds equipment, he wants to be able to do that but he doesn’t think he’ll have the power to do so.
Aaron Teders, of Sawvel & Associates, also spoke to the council. He said his understanding of the issue was a new transformer was requested. There is no issue with servicing multiple customers through one transformer.
Wastewater Superintendent Andy Cook said Tuesday was the first time he’s heard about Roberts’ blinking issues. He stated the issue might be more a power issue than a transformer issue.
Roberts also brought up the fact the pole was leaning. Roberts said at one point, it was leaning within a couple inches from his roof. Cook said that wasn’t true. When he went up there and took a look at it, it was about 4 feet from the roof. Roberts brought up the fact the pole has been there for about 30 years. Cook said the pole wasn’t leaning due to age.
Councilman Jason Hanes said the pole hasn’t been dealt with before due to other lines that in the area.
Council President Keith Claassen said the town council could definitely look into it and needed to look into Roberts’ power supply to make sure what the actual issue is.
In other business, Hanes will talk to Kosciusko County Sheriff Kyle Dukes about having someone patrol the area of State and Walnut streets. Councilwoman Susan Klinefelter said she has seen people fly through the four-way stop there.
Hanes mentioned both he and Clerk-Treasurer Patti Cook have talked to Dukes about more police protection, but Hanes said they’d have to talk contract terms with Dukes.
