ETNA GREEN - It took less than half an hour for local authorities to catch four suspects involved in a bank robbery in Etna Green Wednesday.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, all four suspects were captured within 15 minutes of dispatch receiving the initial call of the robbery at the National City Bank branch in Etna Green.
Rocky L. Lozano, 23, of 4669 E. Armstrong Road, Leesburg; Michael Angel Islas Jr., 21, of 947 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw; and Logan Alan Greene, 26, of 1623 E. Main St., Warsaw, were each booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
Ashley Ann King, 21, of 1835 Sharon St., Warsaw, was arrested for assisting a criminal.
All four suspects are being held in the jail without bond.
Around 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, the Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center received a call that four armed subjects dressed in masks and black clothing robbed the Etna Green bank. Police are not releasing specific information about the weapons used in the robbery.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspects leave the bank and get into a maroon vehicle.
Soon after, officers found two men walking close to the Etna Green Cemetery where an abandoned maroon car was located. The men, Greene and Islas, were taken into custody without incident.
"An undercover officer was on the scene in Etna Green within minutes of the robbery," said Rovenstine.
An older white car seen leaving the scene was found on Crystal Lake Road and stopped by a Warsaw police officer.
After the vehicle was stopped, and other officers arrived at the scene, Lozano and King were taken into custody.
"This was an excellent piece of police work," Rovenstine said. "There was a lot of cooperation between agencies. Good information was relayed by dispatch and it was good police work.
"I appreciate the cooperation with other agencies. Officers were alert and on the spot. This is how you want police work to be."
Clothing and two firearms believed to have been used in the robbery were recovered at the Etna Green Cemetery.
A search warrant was issued for the car found at the cemetery and all but $600 of the stolen cash was recovered. Police are not releasing information about the exact amount of money taken in the heist.
Other items related to the robbery also were found in the vehicle, but police are not releasing information about what those items are.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department. Officers from the Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police, Nappanee Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department assisted with the investigation.
