Ethel Marion Haines Pickens Emerick, 90, of Warsaw, died at 4:20 p.m. June 3, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Amble, Mich., to Francis Marion and Minnie Witt Haines. On May 7, 1938, she married Howard Emerson Pickens, who died June 29, 1980. On Aug. 22, 1981, she married Owen Emerick, who died Aug. 13, 2000.
She was an active co-owner with her husband Howard in the trucking business handling new furniture for more than 20 years in Bloomington, Peru and Warsaw. During the 1960s and '70s, they were agents for Indianapolis based Perkins Furniture Transport and owned and operated a terminal in Warsaw. She was a member of Tippecanoe Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf for many years. She also enjoyed living near the water, spending many winters in Bonita Springs and Fort Myers in Florida, as well on Chapman and Pike lakes in Warsaw. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Parkevich, Logansport, and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Hardin, Warsaw; a sister, Maxine Valance, Greenville, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Mrs.William (Marilyn) Purtlebaugh, Tippecanoe Lake; seven grandchildren: Mrs. Chip (Beth) Skipper and Mrs. David (Natalie) Waddle, both of Warsaw; Mrs. Steven (Katrina) Courchaime, Indianapolis; Christine Parkevich, Patrick (and wife Rhonda) Parkevich and Mrs. Neil (Michelle) Ewing and Pamela Parkevich, all of Logansport; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandsons and a brother, Ralph Haines, Stanwood, Wash.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Monsignor James Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
