NAPPANEE – Ethel Marie Wood, 99, formerly of Nappanee, died at 9:32 a.m. Oct. 1, 2014, at The Laurels of DeKalb, Butler. She was born Feb. 6, 1915, in Kosciusko County to Clayton and Cora Stackhouse Harlan. On Feb. 6, 1938, she married Wayne Wood, who preceded her in death June 14, 1992. She lived most of her lifetime in this area until moving to Auburn four years ago. She was a graduate of Etna Green High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Tabor Church of God. Surviving are her daughter, Jeanette (and spouse Michael) Sommers, Auburn; a son, Allan (and spouse Christine) Wood, Darien, Ill.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (and spouse Jean) Harlan, Grabill; and a sister-in-law, Ann Harlan, Cincinnati. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Rockhill and Berneice Harlan; and a brother, Warren Harlan. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Tabor Church of God with the Rev. Jeremy Grueser officiating. Burial is in Stony Point Cemetery. Calling is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to services Saturday. ***** Memorials to Bear Lake Camp in Albion.
