SOUTH BEND – Ethel Lou Kehoe Goodrich, 87, passed away in her sleep early July 15, 2015, while visiting family in California. She was born Feb. 13, 1928, in Warsaw. On Feb. 4, 1949, she married Clyde D. Goodrich, who preceded her in death in 2006. Growing up, she spent much of free summer time swimming at Center Lake. She moved to Sidney, in 1944 and graduated from Sidney High School the following year as a junior. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing thousands of sequins on costumes she made for Jody's baton twirling endeavors. South Bend became home since 1960. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. Occasionally, she sang special music with her husband or her daughter and good friend, Jim Heiner. Together, she and her husband enjoyed square dancing, camping, attending church, playing bridge, Scrabble and other games, traveling, and most importantly, socializing with family and friends. Though only attending one game ever late in life, she never missed a Notre Dame Football game on television. In February 1991, she retired as office manager for Darr & Associates of South Bend. She and her husband had planned to leave for Frostproof, Fla., the next day but were delayed by 18-1/2 inches of snowfall that morning. They continued their snowbird tradition at Camp Inn until Clyde passed away in 2006. She continued snow birding until recently, spending most of her time in Indiana and Florida. All will remember her wonderful smile, witty personality and goodness. She was a joy to be around. Survivors are: her son, John C. (and spouse Deborah J.) Goodrich; a daughter, Jo Ellen "Jody" Praklet; her six grandchildren, John C. (and spouse Rhonda M.) Goodrich Jr., Robert W. (and spouse Nicole) Goodrich, Trisha L. (and spouse Daniel) Christison, Marci M. (and spouse Tommy) Nedialkov, David A. (and spouse Jamie L.) Praklet II and Tracy L. Collmer Praklet; 13 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Allyson, Cole, Madison and Delaney James Goodrich; Taylor and Dustin Lamar; Emma and Reade Christison; Zachary and Owen Nedialkov; and Seth and Riley Collmer. She was a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by her nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by three siblings who did not survive childhood, Margaret, Lyle, and Betty Jean Kehoe; and her other siblings, John, Richard and Edward Kehoe and Lillian Sparks. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1501 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend. A committal service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
