ARGOS - Esther M. Fanning Shoemaker, 94, of 662 S. Irena Ave., Redondo Beach, Calif., died at 7:32 p.m. Oct. 20, 2007, in Del Amo Gardens Convalescent Hospital, Torrance, Calif.

She was born Aug. 24, 1913, in rural Marshall County, to Ernest David and Clara Estel Miller Fanning. On Sept. 29, 1934, in Crown Point, she married Howard Dale Shoemaker, who preceded her in death.

She moved from Mentone to California 25 years ago. She was an insurance agent for Farmers Mutual for 35 years. She was Mentone town treasurer for four years and a member of the Brethren Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Sherry) Eilsasser, Lubbock, Texas, and Mrs. Ronald (Sue) Kammer, Bonita Springs, Fla.; two sons, Joe Shoemaker, South Whitley, and Howard Shoemaker, Redondo Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at noon Friday at Walnut Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Argos, with the Rev. Robert Rice officiating.

Calling is from 11:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the cemetery.
