Esther Louise StahlyEsther Louise Wuthrich Stahly, age 91, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Parkview Hospital in Wabash.
She was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Milford, to Andrew and Wilhelmina Clauss Wuthrich. Esther married Richard “Dick” Arlen Stahly on Sept. 22, 1946. They were blessed with 58 years together.
Mrs. Stahly enjoyed playing softball and bowling in her younger days and then golf later in life. She was also an avid euchre and bridge player who had little patience for those that didn't pay attention to what was being played. Above everything else, Esther loved her family. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Esther leaves behind a son, James Stahly, of Elkhart; daughters: Joellen Burns and husband Jerry, of Warsaw; and Jeanne Pasko and husband Phil, of Huntington; and a sister, Lorene Tom from Oxnard, Calif. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and a number of great- and great-great grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; a son, Jan Stahly; daughter-in-law, Karen Stahly; brothers, Dale Wuthrich, Omar Wuthrich, Willis Wuthrich, Ladd Wuthrich and Phillip Wuthrich.
Esther lived most of her life in the Nappanee and Syracuse area. For the last nine years, she was a resident of Peabody Nursing home North Manchester and she considered all her caregivers a part of her extended family and loved them all very much.
The family appreciates all the care they provided and want to thank the staff for making her feel at home.
A celebration of life service for Esther will be held next summer.
Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral home in Nappanee.
