MENTONE - Esther J. Wise, 81, of 10719 W. CR 600S, Mentone, died at 11:30 p.m. Dec. 1, 2007, in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born April 10, 1926, in South Bend, to Francis and Mary Nellans Kehoe. On July 20, 1951, in Mentone, she married Leroy C. "Bud" Wise, who died Oct. 17, 1971.
A lifetime Tippecanoe and Mentone area resident, she was a homemaker. She was valedictorian of the 1944 graduating class of Tippecanoe High School and attended Manchester College. She was a member of Mentone Church of Christ and volunteered at Mason Health & Rehab and Kosciusko Community Hospital, both in Warsaw. She was a former performer in the Mentone Scrambled Egg Band.
Surviving are two daughters, Cynthia (and spouse Dennis) Floyd, Danville, Ill.; and Sandy (and spouse Jim) Haferkamp, LaPorte; two sons, Jim (and wife Sandy) and Mark (and wife Deb) Wise, both of Mentone; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donnabelle Marozsan, South Bend.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mentone Church of Christ with speakers Billy Steele and Keith Besson.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
