PIERCETON – Ester M. Long, 88, Gas City, passed away at 11:48 a.m. May 6, 2014, at her residence. She was born Jan. 3, 1926, in Warsaw, to William A. and Linney Leoda Sell Shand. On April 20, 1946, in Warsaw, she married Russell Long, who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 2009. A former Warsaw and Fort Myers, Fla., resident, she had resided in Gas City since 2002. She was a 1945 graduate of Ravenscroft Beauty School, Fort Wayne. She was a lifelong cosmetologist and formerly was the owner of the Golden Girl Salon, Warsaw. She was a former member of the First United Methodist and Walnut Creek United Methodist churches, both of Warsaw. Other memberships include the National Hairdressers Association, Warsaw Square Dance Club, County Home Extension (Fort Myers), Fort Myers Sewing Guild and was a registered instructor of the All Japan Bunka Embroidery Association. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (and spouse Dennis) Johnson, Gas City, and Pat (and spouse Robert) Craig, Warsaw; a son, Larry (and spouse Diana) Long, Warsaw; a twin brother, Lester Shand, Burnettsville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Doug Davies officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
