Essick Plays First Chair In Ind. Band

FORT WAYNE - The Indiana Music Education Association State Convention was held in Fort Wayne at the Indiana Convention Center in January.

Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne students competed with peers from around the state representing 12 other universities. One of three honor ensembles, the Indiana Intercollegiate Band, was open to all participating students. Six IPFW students were selected for audition for the elite wind band.Zach Kohlmeier, New Haven, was principal tuba and featured soloist. Aubree Doud, Fort Wayne, was principal flute and featured soloist. Aaron Trammel, Fort Wayne, was principal trumpet and featured soloist. Ben Essick, Warsaw, was first chair baritone saxophone. Luke Ellis, Ossian, was sixth chair French horn. Brad Crossland, Fort Wayne, was in the percussion section.

Kohlmeier and Trammel were in a select brass quintet that accompanied the band.
