Escape Attempt Fails At County Jail

Posted

An escape attempt from the Kosciusko County Jail was thwarted Tuesday evening when guards found three inmates in the ceiling.

According to Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine, the jail personnel had reason to believe that someone had been in the ceiling, and the jailers were conducting periodic checks of the spaces over the jail cells.

Three inmates reportedly were found in the ceiling about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and it is believed they were trying to make their way into the air conditioning system en route to freedom.

Rovenstine said he didn't think anyone could actually get out of the building by way of the duct work.

Charged with attempted escape were Timothy Ruggles, 26; Russell Stidams, 19; and Sean Ransome, 24.

The three also have lost visitation privileges for 60 days.
