COLUMBIA CITY - Erma Lou Simpson, 78, of 335 N. Chauncey St., Columbia City, died at 9:10 a.m. June 9, 2007, in Oaks Living Care Center, Columbia City.
She was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Huntington, to Victor and Olive Branstraiter Boxell.
She lived in Wells County; El Paso, Texas; several locations in southern California; then returned to Indiana, living in North Webster from 1966-82. She then spent time in Europe and moved to Columbia City in 1997. She was a 1947 Union High School graduate. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Pierceton American Legion Auxiliary Post 258.
Surviving are siblings: Mrs. John (Marilyn) Bishop, South Whitley, and Max Boxell, Fort Wayne; five children: Ronald E. Ringle, Pierceton; Mrs. Gregg (Cheryl A.) Weitzel and Mrs. Scott (Marylouise) Hofstetter, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; James A. Simpson, Amarillo, Texas; and William H. Simpson, Columbia City; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City, with funeral celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will be at approximately 4 p.m. at Jones Cemetery, rural Warren.
