Erma D. SwankErma D. Swank, 98, of Warsaw, passed away May 29, 2022.

She was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Marion, to Charles and Julia Drake Neeley. On Dec. 2, 1945, she married H.?Gene Swank, who preceded her in death on Dec. 14, 2001.

She graduated from Marion High School and worked as a bookkeeper for 12 years at the Lynch Corp. in Marion. She later worked for the Prudential Insurance Company for many years, retiring in 1980. She was the first female insurance agent in Indiana and won numerous awards for her achievements in the insurance field. In 1972, she and H. Gene moved to Warsaw, spending their remaining years living on Winona Lake.

She was a charter member of the Warsaw Altrusa Club, a member of the Delta Sigma sorority and was very active with the Warsaw Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary, serving as treasurer for many years. She was an avid and excellent bridge player and took part in several bridge clubs. She enjoyed being a part of the Friday Night Supper Club with her many friends. She loved spending time with her family and was exceptionally proud of her grandchildren. She was a very giving and fun-loving woman who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons: Gene Alan (Sue) Swank, of Warsaw; Douglas (Mary) Swank, of Madison, Wis.; four grandchildren: Dr. Alicia (Ryan) Swank Bauer, Fort Wayne; Jillian (Dr. Daniel) Swank Warner, Newark, Del.; Jacob (Kelly) Swank, Madison, Wis.; and Drew Swank, McFarland,?Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Francis, William, Charles and Robert.

Per Erma’s request, no services will be held. As her close friends know, she never liked anyone making a fuss over her. However, please celebrate her life by raising a glass to her memory.
