TERRE HAUTE — Warsaw Community High School senior Ashley Erba won Sunday’s Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional Qualifier at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute. Competing against runners from Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Missouri, Erba finished first in 17:38.1. With her finish, the Providence College-bound Erba qualified for the national meet in Portland, Ore. on Dec. 1, but will forgo that chance. Instead of traveling west for the national meet, Erba will take part in Saturday’s Mideast Meet of Champions in Kettering, Ohio, followed by the Foot Locker Regional Qualifier on Nov. 24 in Kenosha, Wisc. With a top 10 finish at the Foot Locker Regional, she will travel to San Diego on Dec. 8 for the and the Foot Locker National.
