Engel Returns For Kosciusko Literacy Services Fundraiser

Kosciusko Literacy Services invites the public to "Take the Road Less Traveled" and celebrate "The Cold Genius of Robert Frost" at the Eighth Annual Author Dinner featuring Dr. Elliot Engel.
The event is at 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw.
The dinner raises funds to provide literacy services. Tickets are $85, of which $60 is tax deductible as allowed by law. For tickets or for information on sponsoring the event, call 574-267-5380.
Current sponsors for the Author Dinner are R.R. Donnelley & Sons, The Grossnickle Family Foundation, Zimmer, Lake City Bank and Howard and Saralee Levin.
Engel explores the peculiar background of Robert Frost, a controversial, but beloved, American poet. Frost's poem, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" will be featured.
Engel is the quintessential teacher as he combines education with wit and entertainment.
Frost remains a highly regarded American poet.
Known for his command of American colloquial speech, Frost's work frequently employed settings from rural life in the early 20th century. Frost used his poetry to examine complex social and philosophical themes.
Frost received four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry.
Kosciusko Literacy Services focuses on all aspects of literacy and provides literacy programming for Kosciusko County residents from birth to senior citizens.
The mission of the KLS is to increase the literacy levels of all citizens of the community by implementing innovative and comprehensive programs using a collaborative effort from the community; increasing public awareness of literacy issues facing adults, children, and families; and providing trained volunteer tutors for the adult students.To achieve the mission, KLS also provides books to preschoolers from low-income families, positive incentives for children to read and books for classroom libraries. KLS facilitates the community book read, The Big Read (Plant the Seed, Read).
