Energy Assessment Program Encouraged in Mentone

Posted
MENTONE – Residents of Mentone can learn more about saving energy during the United Way Day of Caring Aug. 15.

According to Housing Opportunities of Warsaw intern Marissa Schramm, Energizing Indiana is a program promoted by HOW. It is provided through the electric companies.

“They come in and do a free assessment and provide a free kit of energy-saving items,” Schramm said.

She said the program is being promoted in Mentone because it includes water-saving measures and the water table in Mentone has been drastically low. The program is not limited to Mentone, but they’re pushing it in that town.

Even if a person does not qualify for Day of Caring, Schramm said a person can still qualify for Energizing Indiana.

Friday, applications for Energizing Indiana will be available at the town hall, but HOW also will be going door to door to provide people with applications.

Schramm said anyone with a NIPSCO electric bill likely qualifies.
