The children of the late Byron and Jo Ann Doran recently joined the Kosciusko County Community Foundation staff in establishing the Byron C. Doran and Jo Ann Doran Charitable Endowment. The Dorans lived in Burket. Byron operated Black Oxide, a metal finishing company, which is now run by his son, Craig Doran. Byron passed away in 1999 and was survived by his wife, Jo Ann, who passed away in May of this year. Jo Ann created a charitable remainder trust with the Community Foundation in 2001. At her passing, the trust established the $368,000 endowment, which will meet the needs of the community. The Dorans were active in the community during their lifetimes, including Byron’s involvement in the Shriner’s and Elks and Jo Ann’s volunteer work with American Cancer Society.
